Skirting the Issue: Signature
Today. I received in the mail an incredible, original, hand-made, hand-painted, super-comfy skirt from the completely amazing <a href="http://studio524.vox.com">Haze McElhenny.</a>
Besides the gorgeous artwork, the amazing craftsmanship, the fun style, the total wearability, Haze's attention to detail, and her completely outstanding customer service, here are some reasons to get your own totally hot, totally original piece of wearable art:
-They're what Haze calls "Sustainable fashion." Each skirt is made from vintage t-shirts. The shirts are dyed with organic materials, like coffee. How many people can say what they're wearing is both totally cute <i>and</i> carbon-neutral?
-They're so much good karma that your aura will throw up. Seriously. Besides being good for the environment, Haze buys the materials shops that support the homeless and needy. Haze will always do the art herself, but should there ever come a time when she needs help, she will most likely hire women from the women's shelter to do the sewing. Buying one piece of clothing ends up being better than what most people donate to charity in a year.
